The start of a new year always brings a fresh sense of possibility. So in 2026 I invite you to think of the start of the new year as more than just a calendar change, and to view it as a call to reset, renew, rise and rule your life like never before! Take this chance to break free from old patterns, build better ones and speed up your momentum toward the success you deserve. Make 2026 the year you start living your best life by focussing on what truly matters.

I. RESET Your Mindset and Habits

Resetting means clearing out old patterns that no longer serve you. It’s about letting go of limiting beliefs and habits that hold you back from winning in your personal and professional life. Start by reflecting on what hasn’t worked in the past year. Did procrastination slow your progress? Did fear stop you from taking risks? Did distractions pull you away from your priorities?

Here are some ways you can craft an effective reset:

  • Identify one habit to change that impacts your productivity or mindset. For example, I have identified that I want to significantly reduce the time I spend on my phone because I realise how much of a distraction and demotivator it has become for me.

  • Create a simple daily routine that supports your goals, such as morning journaling or a short meditation. Make this as personal to you and as frictionless as possible so that you don't have to spend a lot of energy to stick to this routine. For example, my new routine to try out is to place my phone in a different room when I am not actively using it, and to first reach for another activity to engage me rather than automatically reaching for the phone.

  • Set clear boundaries to protect your time and energy from distractions. Boundaries don't have to be black and white, but they serve an important function in keeping us emotionally stable. Learn about and understand what setting good boundaries looks like before you decide which boundaries you will set and how flexible you will want them to be. For example, a flexible boundary that I will set this year is around spending less time with people that drain me and more time with those that energize me. This does not mean I will cut people off entirely from my life, but it will change how often and in what way I will be accessible to others - with my time, with my emotions and with my service.

  • Seek feedback from everywhere so you can gain fresh perspective, but apply it with discernment. Even people who have your best interests at heart and want to see you succeed may not give you feedback that needs to be acted upon, and sometimes you may get some wise direction from people who you may not like.

Resetting isn’t about getting it right perfectly all the time. It’s about making small, consistent changes that will build your foundation for success.

II. RENEW Your Energy and Focus

Renewal is about recharging your motivation and sharpening your focus. After resetting, you need energy to rise and rule your year. Physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance all play a role in your ability to lead yourself and others.

Consider these practical ways to renew:

  • Prioritize sleep and nutrition to fuel your body and brain. I cannot emphasize how important it is to pay attention to your physical health especially in a world that is always on and encourages pushing yourself. When our bodies are not healthy, everything else becomes unimportant!

  • Schedule regular breaks during work to avoid burnout. Not just breaks in your day or week, but also breaks that take you away from the daily grind and put you in places where you can experience different sights, sounds, smells and sensations.

  • Engage in activities that inspire you, such as reading, creative hobbies, or nature walks. Attempt to go outside your comfort zone and pick things to do that make you feel just a little bit challenged.

  • Practice gratitude daily to shift your mindset toward positivity. You don't need to have a gratitude journal or spend a lot of time trying to find things to be grateful for, but creating a mindset of acknowledging the silver lining instead of focusing on the negatives can build emotional resilience and open your mind to new possibilities.

Renewing your energy helps you stay resilient when challenges arise. It also improves your ability to be an example for others by modeling balance and self-care.

III. RISE by Taking Bold Action

Rising means stepping up with confidence and courage. It’s about moving beyond planning and into action. This year, focus on achieving goals that stretch your limits and expand your impact. Whether you want to launch a new project, improve your leadership skills, or build stronger relationships, rising requires commitment and persistence.

Here’s how to rise effectively:

  • Break big goals into smaller, manageable steps to avoid overwhelm. Think of this as starting a journey - your destination is the goal but there are milestones along the way that tell you how far you have progressed and keep you motivated

  • Track your progress regularly to celebrate wins and adjust strategies. Tracking progress can look like measuring progress from the starting point or measuring distance till the end point. When are just starting out, it makes sense to measure how far we have come from zero rather than looking at the far end of our goal. But when we are close to our goals, it may be more motivating to look at both perspectives - celebrate how far we have come from point zero and be encouraged by how close we are to the finish line.

  • Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage your growth. As with whose feedback you take, whom you share your hopes, dreams, goals, wins and losses with matters! Tune into how you feel with the people around you so you can make good decisions about where you are spending your time and energy.

  • Invest in yourself through training and coaching to sharpen your skills and mindset. Human beings are hard-wired to learn so take advantage of this innate setting and keep up-skilling and upgrading yourself. Invest time and money into resources that will help you grow - whether that is a training program or working with a good coach.

Remember, rising is not about rushing. It’s about steady progress fueled by clear intention and strong leadership.

IV. RULE Your Year with Confidence and Purpose

Ruling your year means taking ownership of your journey and leading with purpose. It’s about making decisions aligned with your values and vision for your best life. When you rule your year, you don’t just react to circumstances—you create the conditions for success.

To rule your year:

  • Define what success means to you beyond external achievements. To do this, understand your values and what is important to you.

  • Develop leadership skills such as communication, empathy, and decision-making. You don't have to have formal authority through titles in order to be a leader. Practice and demonstrate leadership skills in your daily life in both your professional and personal spheres.

  • Take advantage of coaching to learn how to support others while growing yourself. Work with a coach who can help you discover your values, refine your goals, identify good milestones, and design tiny experiments to take action.

  • Reflect regularly on your progress and adjust your course as needed. Reflection and renewal often go hand-in-hand so make time for slowing down, looking back, resting, recharging and then forging ahead again with energy.

Ruling your year is a mindset - believe that you have the power to shape your future and taking consistent steps towards that future!

Your Best Life Starts Now

Don't let 2026 be just another year. It’s your opportunity to reset old patterns, renew your energy, rise with boldness, and rule your life with confidence. By focusing on your personal and professional leadership, using coaching as a means of support, and setting milestones to guide you on your path to achieving goals, you can create lasting success and start living your best life.
